Information about pollutants - profile, page 2

Check list of pollutants in constructions

Project engineering

Bases procure with owner (construction documents: Asbestos, PCB; earlier use, e.g. solvent chlorinated) and authorities (land registers: Asbestos)

Building CHECK: Pollutant survey (material analyses, room air surveys with asbestos, PCB etc.) by professionals 1 2 for analyses and surveys (possibly under tension force redevelopment company) to arrange (possibly already in preliminary study)

Redevelopment concept prepares (industrial safety, avoidance interior load, and professional disposal) and submits to competent authority for permit. Aim at with asbestos total redevelopment instead of part redevelopment.

Implementation

Only pollutant redevelopment, analyses and surveys assign professional companies

To arrange possibly before beginning of work refined pollutant survey. Would drive before soundings and retreating long wall system work instruction of the entrepreneurs over duty to exercise diligence concerning pollutant release through project-conducting construction respectable construction supervision

Control measures for project managers to ensure the construction quality control of the external company.

Obtaining permits and approvals from the relevant authorities.

If despite all precautions necessary an incident arises: Communication and Information

Construction materials containing pollutants

Asbestos

Components, which are weakly bound asbestos, may contain fibbers

Asbestos Spray coverings including tamping loose material

• on media, supports and braces made of steel and concrete
• at the facade elements, intermediate floors, ceilings, shuttering
• in electrical systems, ducts, lift shafts, fire stopping
• inside ventilation ducts
• filling material of fire doors, fire dampers

Asbestos Inc. cord tissue

• Sealing material of doors, valves, flanges (eg, in heating, ventilation ducts, fireplaces, chimneys) and smoke-tight doors and gates

• filler in expansion joints, and cable and pipe penetrations

Asbestos in plaster

• Insulation Plasters (fire sections) and repairs of spray coatings
• pipe insulation or composite materials (asbestos fibers in the mortar layer)

• lift shafts and lift motor rooms

Asbestos lightweight construction, constructions panels

Fire Fairings

• columns and braces made of steel, concrete or wood
• cladding for fire protection doors, radiator niches, window-board sub-views
• ceiling tiles (suspended ceiling surfaces), wall plates (lightweight walls stand, element partitioning systems) under staircase views

Installation / Operating

• enclosures from indoor air (fans)
• loading and ventilation, fire dampers
• Taps of cable channels, cable routes, cable shafts
• Panels of lift cabins
• In the field of boilers
• Insulation and lining of night electricity storage

Electrical installations

• Deposited or linings of components for electrical installations
• documents and enclosures of luminaries

Asbestos wall and floor coverings

• Flooring panels: PVC Flex Plates
• PVC flooring and wall coverings tracks from Cushion-Vinyl8

Components, which strongly bound may contain asbestos fibers

Asbestos cement components:

• roofing and facade elements (element, slate or corrugated)
• door inside of roof
• pipes, cable ducts, ventilation ducts and electrical cabinets
• lining of fire doors

Detached form parts:

• Flower boxes, vessels, tanks, troughs, garden furniture
• table tennis

Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs)

Open primary sources, which may contain PCBs

Joints sealing masses

Movement joint, building separation joint, connection joint, separation joint
• for pipe penetrations through walls and ceilings
• between different concrete elements
• between the concrete and window or other prefabricated elements
• in the case of land lines to walls

Ceiling panels

• in certain paint ceiling tiles

Paintings

• softener resin in varnishes, paints and other fire interior paints

Closed primary sources, which may contain PCBs

Capacitors Transformers

• cooling and insulating liquids in transformers and large capacitors (reactive power compensation equipment)
• Small capacitors (ballasts) in lamps, fluorescent tubes and household appliances

Secondary sources, which may contain PCBs Polychlorinated

Organic materials

• Concrete walls, floor coverings
• Walls, ceilings, wallpaper
• furniture, curtains, dust

Pentachlorophenol (PCP)

Construction materials, which may contain PCP

Active ingredient in fungicides

• wood preservatives (active against wood-destroying fungi)
• Imported leather (leather garments, leather covers)
• textiles (such as Oriental carpets)
• engineered wood, which polluted waste wood has been used
